1970s
The ELI program started at ANS in 1974 due to the damage caused by the 1972 earthquake to the Centro Cultural building. From 1974-1990 the ELI would collect all the money and pay ANS a fee for rent.
1991
The American Nicaraguan School takes total control over ELI, forming a new institution now called ANS-English Language Institute.
1997
The ANS-ELI population started to grow rapidly. The number of students increased from 1,100 to 1,800. Because of the continuous growth in the number of students, ANS-ELI decided to open a branch in León which is intended to serve León and Chinandenga.
2000s
For the last years, the ANS-ELI Program has gotten through significant accomplishments. Students were separated by age and developmental stages (Children, Adolescents, and Adults). Our textbooks are revised every five years.
2009
Replaced our Super Goal textbooks with MacMillan editorial's textbooks.
2010
Mr. Henry Ortega assumes the ELI Director position.
2011
In order to keep our curriculum updated and to satisfy our customer's needs, ANS-ELI changes the textbooks used for Children Program; thus moving from English Zone to Take Shape.
